Prairie Lights

by Joseph Robertson on Jul.07, 2011,
under Abundance, English, Poetry

silence
in the broad and restive
blue expanse
of morning
time aware of missing
a measure of fuel
and an appetite

the precious unabandonable
trill and consequence
of coming together
to make music
for even a moment
dripping down
rhythmic sage resilient
into honeyed futures
and a legend of witness
and aching

we move
like angels liquid
ether and starlight
slow with the weight
of unhewn marble
we move
ages precepts courtships
through the mist
to give shape
resonance and fury
to the struggle
against encroaching gloom

silence
from habit and comfort
forgetting and aplomb
silken and wanton
from battle-borne tears
and the grace
of a soft rain
clear of mind
chasing away all endings
