MSNBC reporter and host Rachel Maddow reveals the foundation of clear and overt racist ideology that helped shape and promote the anti-immigrant legislation that has been passed and signed into law in Arizona, requiring policemen to demand documentation of residency from anyone who “looks like” they might be an undocumented immigrant.

In response to the question “What does an illegal immigrant look like?” from a reporter, Gov. Brewer famously said, just before signing the legislation, that she did not know what standards would be used to determine whether there was “reasonable suspicion” a given individual could be a target for the law’s enforcement components, which include being detained without a warrant and possibly shipped to another jurisdiction without any hearing.
